I so so loved getting to photograph this wedding. Jenny and I were in the same sorority in college so it was extra special to get to play a part in her big day. She and Kevin fit so perfectly together and this day could not have been filled with more special moments from breaking glass and hoisted chairs, to singing on stage and homemade cheesecake by Jenny’s dad. Thank you, Kevin and Jenny, for letting me photograph this special day!
How/ Where did you two meet?
We met in Fort Worth, Texas back in 2016. We laugh about the fact that Jenny is from Atlanta, Kevin is from Nashville and we moved halfway across the country to meet each other.
Summer of 2016, Kevin and Jenny both moved to the DFW area. Jenny relocated to Dallas and Kevin had an opportunity to launch a new Amazon facility in Fort Worth. Not knowing anyone in Fort Worth other than Michael – and now Courtney – Nash, Kevin downloaded Bumble with hopes of meeting new people. After a few swipes and inevitable matches, Kevin chatted up a girl who told him about Untapped Fest, a beer and music festival going on the following weekend. He asked Michael and Courtney if they wanted to go with him. Meanwhile, Jenny had met Michael at CMA Fest back in 2012 through (s/o to) Michael Handley who she was friends with at UGA. When she moved to Dallas, she saw on Facebook that Michael was moving to Fort Worth at a similar time and reached out to connect. Michael invited Jenny to go to Untapped Fest with them.
Kevin: When Michael first told me about Jenny, the two statements he told me were that she is super outgoing and talkative, and she knows more about sports than most people he knew. I was obviously intrigued and of course had to look her up. I thought she was absolutely beautiful, so I had high hopes for the day. When she walked into our apartment, I immediately had a big smile on my face and knew I had to be on my game. When we got to the beer festival I saw my first opportunity standing in line together at the bathroom. We started to talk and build on our connection, but I couldn’t quite tell if she was interested in me. Then out of nowhere, I hear a girl’s voice call my name. Low and behold, it was the girl who told me about the festival. I talked to this girl and split up from the group until Michael came walking back. He says to me, “Dude, I think you blew it with Jenny” and I knew I had to do damage control. I went running back to find Jenny, and once I found her, there was no more doubt that either of us were interested. As the night ended, I knew this girl was different.
Jenny: When Michael invited me to Untapped Fest, I asked who was going. He said him, his girlfriend and his roommate. I followed up quickly with, “What’s your roommate's name?” Obviously did some Facebook stalking... When I got to their apartment and Kevin came into the living room, I seriously thought he was so attractive and couldn't wait to get to know him better. At first, he was super quiet, and I couldn’t tell if he was interested or not. That is, until he joined me to wait in line for the bathroom. We had such good chemistry and were having a blast together, bouncing around and sweet talking vendors into giving us free beer (my forte). All of a sudden, I saw Kevin talking to another girl. We left him to go back to the festival and I mentioned to Michael how bummed I was that Kevin wasn’t interested in me! I must have completely misread him. A few minutes later, Kevin swoops in and explained the whole situation. He was very direct about how interested he was and said he couldn't tell if I liked him or not. I was so, so excited! The rest of the night, everything felt different – like a switch had flipped and suddenly we had known each other forever! Huge shoutout to "the Bumble" for expediting our relationship.
How did he propose?
Kevin and Jenny celebrated their two-year anniversary with a weekend getaway to Salt Lake City, UT. Kevin planned the entire weekend with the exception of Saturday morning, when Jenny wanted to take Kevin on her favorite hike (Jenny's company is headquartered in Salt Lake so she spends a good amount of time there). Sunrise at the top of Lake Blanche, Kevin completely shocked Jenny by asking her to marry him. SHE SAID YES! Kevin popped the bottle of champagne he had in his bookbag and the two began dreaming of their future together.
Describe your fiance in 3 words
Kevin on Jenny: Beautiful, Intelligent, Caring Jenny on Kevin: Sweet, Driven, Family-Oriented...... Handsome...... Adventurous.... Smart ;)
What are you looking forward to most about being married?
Kevin: To travel the world together for the next few years and then start a family.
Jenny: To continue growing and learning about one another, to see Kevin as a father and to have a partner to walk through life with.
What has been the hardest part about wedding planning?
I've actually REALLY enjoyed wedding planning. I'd say the hardest thing has been with every new "item" we check off, I've been increasingly impatient about the big day getting here! Time has been both flying by and going so slow at the same time.
